Peaceful Twilight

This is a shot from my recent road trip in March. After driving across the Foothills Parkway from Townsend, Tennessee to Chilhowee I arrived at this location with the light fading fast. This beautiful lake was right in front of me!  I pulled off the road because I knew I had to get a shot. When I stepped out of the car it was very dark and very quiet. All you could hear were the faint sounds of the night critters. Directly behind me was a dark shadowy wall of mountains. I setup my tripod to capture this scene. The air was very still and I knew I needed a long exposure to capture this the way it looked when I was there. I set my camera to 30 seconds and pressed the remote. When the image appeared on the screen after what seemed like an eternity, I knew I had what I wanted. I will never forget this night because it was so peaceful and I felt like I wanted to just stay there for hours and listen to the quiet! 🙂

My Busy Life

Just got home from an awesome evening of good wine, good food and great friends.  I came home with a Third place ribbon for my “Unconditional Surrender” piece as the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at the Progress Energy Art Gallery.  It was their 5th annual artist member’s exhibit.  A show for all the artists to show off their individual works and specialties.  There were lots of wonderful entries and I was honored to be chosen as one of the only top three awards given.  It was a really fun and inspiring evening – wonderful people.  I’m feeling on top of the world 🙂

HOPEFULLY – I’ll start keeping up with my blog more.  Things have been very busy with my photography lately and I don’t seem to have time to fit everything in. I’m loving every minute of it!

I had an opportunity a couple weeks ago to be involved in a charity  auction for abused and neglected animals.  I was contacted and asked if I would donate a piece of my artwork to the Suncoast Animal League to help these little guys out.  It was wonderful seeing so many artists come together to help out a great cause.  The auction was a great success and a lot of animals will now be able to get the help and treatment they need.  It was a wonderful night and I hope to be able to help out a lot more.

Little Boy Blue

At a wedding I shot recently, this little guy liked to “ham it up” whenever he saw the camera. This is one of my favorite shots of him. I noticed the way the sunlight was coming in through the windows and thought it looked perfect.

2011 Jeep Patriot

This is my new baby! It’s a 2011 Jeep Patriot that I just bought at the beginning of May. Been wanting to get a picture of it but I wanted to find the right background. I finally found the perfect spot Saturday June 11th. At the University of Tampa located close to downtown Tampa. I really liked the way the tree in the background framed the Jeep. I love the way the brick cobblestone street and the brick on the building tie in together. I have to say this is a fun vehicle to drive and after only having it just over a month I’ve put over 2000 miles on it! This is a 3 exposure HDR shot on a tripod.

An Awesome Road Trip plus a waterfall Part Two

This is the second post from my trip. Nestled in the mountains of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is this awesome waterfall Laurel Falls. It is accessible by a paved trail that takes you on a 2 mile round trip to this scenic view. I am still in the process of going through my collection of images from the trip so I will keep adding them here and on my flickr page as well. So keep checking back as I add to my postaweek2011 challenge.
