Silence Is Golden

When you live in Florida I think it’s mandatory to take pictures of boats and sunsets πŸ™‚ But seriously they just fit like a great pair of shoes. I live just up the street from the beach and the marina. It’s a great place to go just to unwind from a long day even if you don’t take a camera. There wasn’t a lot of clouds but there was enough that it looked like it might be a decent sunset. So I ventured down to the beach to see what I could capture. The water was calm and peaceful as the sun was dipping down and creating this beautiful golden backdrop. I got lostΒ  in the silence and for a little bit it felt like I was the only person on Earth. The reflection of the boats was calming as this scene unfolded before my eyes.

1948 Lincoln Continental

Here is a shot from the archives. For some reason I never got around to processing it. I love shooting cars! They really make great subjects for HDR photography. This was taken at the Run For The Son Car Show in Tarpon Springs, Florida October 2, 2010. The sky was extremely cooperative in presenting me with beautiful clouds to accentuate this image. This car is extremely awesome to see in person. I am a huge fan of chrome and this ride is decked out very nicely with it. The way the sun glints off it is just fantastic!

Middle Creek United Methodist Church

This was an amazing find. I was driving around Pigeon Forge, Tennessee looking for a specific road that I had been on before a long time ago. While I did finally find the road and what I was looking for (which will be the subject of a future post) I came across this church and had to stop. I just absolutely love the architectural style of older churches and this one did not disappoint. I shot many different angles of this scene but I felt this one portrayed it the best. I really like how the clouds were aligned and the light was just right!

Here is a link to the church website with more information about it and some of the history behind it!

Peaceful Twilight

This is a shot from my recent road trip in March. After driving across the Foothills Parkway from Townsend, Tennessee to Chilhowee I arrived at this location with the light fading fast. This beautiful lake was right in front of me!Β  I pulled off the road because I knew I had to get a shot. When I stepped out of the car it was very dark and very quiet. All you could hear were the faint sounds of the night critters. Directly behind me was a dark shadowy wall of mountains. I setup my tripod to capture this scene. The air was very still and I knew I needed a long exposure to capture this the way it looked when I was there. I set my camera to 30 seconds and pressed the remote. When the image appeared on the screen after what seemed like an eternity, I knew I had what I wanted. I will never forget this night because it was so peaceful and I felt like I wanted to just stay there for hours and listen to the quiet! πŸ™‚

First Baptist Church

Located in downtown Tampa, Florida across the street from the University of Tampa. The sun was just setting and the color caught my eye. I really liked the light trails from the cars passing by and the ominous looking cloud formation over the church.
