The Grand Entrance

Living in Florida definitely has its perks. We’ve got miles of beaches. We don’t have to deal with 10 feet of snow. And we’ve got Disney! As a longtime fan of everything Disney, I can tell you it is a magical place. A place to escape the world and leave your troubles behind. There is something for kids of all ages. I never get tired of visiting this oasis. Everywhere you turn, there is something to take a picture of. No expense is spared when it comes to treating their guests like royalty.

Enter the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Just minutes away from the awesome theme parks, this is the flagship hotel out of all of the resort properties. The Victorian style architecture stands tall on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon. This is luxury at its best. And with 6 restaurants on site, there is always something good to eat.

When I stepped inside after getting off of the monorail, I was greeted with this spectacular view. The reflection on the perfectly spotless floor was unreal. I stopped and looked back and decided a photo-shoot was in order. I set my tripod down low to make sure the reflection had the impact that I was looking for. I waited, crouched down, for the people to clear out. I shot a few different angles until I was happy with what I saw on the camera’s LCD. The ginormous light fixture along with the hallways brilliantly reflecting on the floor had me in awe. No doubt the designers of this hotel planned this out ahead of time.   6. I love all things Disney and I am married to someone who is NOT. I would love to go there yearly but if I can make it once every couple (or three), I won’t complain. Love the photo…especially as I have never seen inside the Grand Floridian before. The lighting and reflections make it “magical”. : )

    • Disney is great isn’t it? I feel lucky to live so close to it, as I really enjoy spending time there and taking pictures. If you ever do get a chance to go there, it’s worth a visit. This picture just represents a small part of this resort. And I love reflections so I think I must see them without looking for them. Thank you for the wonderful comments!

    Wow, that is gorgeous, what a beautiful looking hotel, and as you said, the floor is spotless, how on earth do they do that with people coming and going the mind boggles. 🙂
    I love the chandelier in the middle, but the wall lights I feel really adds to the effect with their soft lighting, and just a touch of greenery to take away any blandness of the wood, it just all fits together beautifully. A place I would certainly love to stay in.

  12. Wow! That is a stunning picture! I have visit Florida and I loved it, went to all the theme parks, and stayed in a lovely rented house. Two of my favourite places were universal and NASA! Would love to visit again. X

    • Thank you Queenie! We definitely have the theme parks! I haven’t been to Universal or the space center for a long time, although I did see the space shuttle take off in November 2009.

  20. A beautiful shot Michael! Insanely sharp, I love the contrast of Blue vs Gold. Disney does everything right don’t they? I hope to someday actually make it to Disney World. I have a feeling when I do that I’ll end up melting the sensor right out of my camera. 😉
